Hāmākua Sugar Days returns in 2025 as a year-long celebration of Hawaiʻi Island’s plantation history and the diverse communities that shaped it. Building on the overwhelming success of its 2024 debut, the 2025 program will run from May through February, offering a wide range of cultural events and community gatherings. Cultural History Nights held throughout the year will spotlight the many ethnic groups that contributed to plantation life, featuring traditional foods, music, and storytelling in a family-friendly setting. The celebration culminates on Saturday, October 4, with the Hāmākua Sugar Days Fair and Parade in Honokaʻa town—a vibrant day of live music, local food, cultural exhibits, and keiki activities. Designed to bring people of all ages together, the expanded format invites residents and visitors alike to reflect on the past while celebrating the present-day strength and diversity of Hawaiʻi Island’s communities.
